Dow Drops as S&P Hits 52-Week High

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 35.79 points, or 0.26%, to close at 13,982.91 on Wednesday.

It was a better day for the Standard & Poor’s 500 index, however, which rose 0.06% on the day to close at a new 52-week high of 1,520.33, its highest close since Oct. 31, 2007. The S&P 500 is just 2.86% from its nominal closing high of 1,565.15, reached on Oct. 9, 2007.

The Russell 2000 index finished the day up�0.33%, to 920.58 — a new record close for the small-cap index, which has risen 8.4% this year.
