Waste Management Misses Where it Counts

Waste Management (NYSE: WM  ) reported earnings on Feb. 14. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Waste Management beat slightly on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.

Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue increased slightly and GAAP earnings per share contracted significantly.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 35.2%, 180 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 15.4%, 170 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 6.5%, 130 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.

Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $3.34 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.42.
