Russian Journalist "Flips Off" Obama, Gets Fired

Russian broadcast news reporter Tatiana Limanova of REN TV was fired on Thursday for allegedly flipping off President Barack Obama during a live newscast on Nov. 14. She was reporting about the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation conference taking place in Hawaii.

The REN TV network said that Limanovas gesture was not aimed at Obama. They said she was pegging a finger at producers off camera. She was not being rude to Obama, REN TV said in a statement.

Limanova said she did not know she was on camera when she made the gesture, an explanation that failed to impress the REN TV bosses considering the cameras were lit and she was not doing a practice run of the script. This does not diminish her guilt and cannot be considered an excuse. The REN TV management views this action as the gravest violation of on-air discipline and a demonstration of unprofessionalism, the channel said in a statement.

Check out Limanova giving Obama the bird, or so it seems, at the 15th second on the video.
