One Million Added to MocoSpace's Mobile Game Developer Fund

The fund is geared at creating games in HTML5.

MocoSpace, an online community that specializes in mobile gaming, has secured a $1 million addition to fund the HTML5 development of mobile games.

This news comes in anticipation of the so-called Project Spartan, a not-so-secret Facebook-developed, HTML5-based platform for games and apps. MocoSpace says that it will use the new money (which brings its total to $2 million) not only for Project Spartan but to further the development of games for the MocoSpace platform, which has 22 million users. More specifically, MocoSpace said that select developers will receive cash and marketing support.

You want the user experience to be enjoyable and not frustrating, said Justin Siegel, CEO of MocoSpace CEO. People want to be able to play games with their friends, no matter what kind of device they have. The best way to make a great cross-platform social gaming experience is to build with HTML5. This is what Facebook is realizing C and we can't wait to see what Project Spartan is going to offer consumers and developers alike.

Developers that are interested in the fund can submit existing games and game proposals to gamesATcorp.mocospace.com. MocoSpace says that its expanding games staff will review your submissions and work with partners to create the best game for its users.

Finally, MocoSpace announced that it is actively hiring game designers and developers at its Boston office.
