Brawl Breaks Out at Italian Parliament

Discussions over economic reform came to blows between two Italian deputies during parliament today. POW! Members of the ruling right-center party, Northern League, fought with members of the opposing FLI (Future and Freedom for Italy) party over sarcastic comments aired on television regarding the Northern League leaders wife.

Parliament had to be interrupted for several minutes after the dispute to call everyone back to order. Reuters quotes UDC party member Amedeo Ciccanti as saying There is a climate of violence and intolerance. We need to calm down because Italians are more irritated than us about this.

Italy (NYSE:EWI) continues to hammer out their own debt crisis issues. League leader, Umberto Bossi, has firmly rejected European leaders reform suggestion of scaling back Italys generous pension plan. Italys Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, will travel to Brussels today with a proposal on cutting debt and sparking life in the Italian economy, however many critics believe the more drastic measures are necessary.
